amy aardvark appliques and other workshops
Join amy aardvark and friends to learn - or re-discover - textile techniques, basic making and have fun! Once a month, sometimes more, why not seize the opportunity to learn new skills in a relaxed environment, eating toasted muffins and drinking tea (or a spot of freshly ground coffee) with friends you haven't met yet?

The Hen Silk Scream!!!!!!
Well, after a break to have babies and a change of city, amy aardvark is back once more!
To start her new life in Bristol, Amy was asked to run a hen do print party. The 'Hen Silk 'Scream' print session saw a gaggle of happy hens design their own paper stencil and silk screen print onto a great tote bag.
We started off with a cuppa tea and cake (essential for any design process), flicking through art books and trend journals for inspiration.
Then the drawing commenced...accompanied by a spot of fizzy.
Once each of the girls was pleased with their designs, they carefully cut out their stencils.
Each took turns to print in the hen's chosen colours of pink and purple - the wedding theme - before drying their new bag.
Then all that was left to do was admire eachother's handiwork and parade their new, unique bag around the studio space, as though on a fashion shoot!

Babies and Bristol
Well, after a break due to babies and a city move, amy aardvark is once again getting up to speed to teach textile techniques and printing fun!
To kick off her new life in Bristol, Amy was asked to host a gaggle of hens and teach them to silk screen print...see the outcome in the next post!
I will also be posting some news shortly about Amy Hutchings' new website, which pulls together the many strands that make up Amy's creative practice and ties them all together with a big bow in one, easy to see place!

Cushion-making workshop coming up...
If you'd like to learn how to make an envelope backed cushion from your own material, then come along to the workshop I'll be running in June! (see the workshop page for details...)
And to whet your appetite, here are a few cushions that were produced for a commission. They show use of blanket stitch, straight stitch and my hand-printed imagery.
Reverse Applique Piccies
Here are is an image of some reverse applique I've recently produced - hope you like it!
I will be running a workshop soon, so if you're interested do get in touch and let me know!
