I was nervous about designing an image [for my bag] in the first place but I found the books useful for inspiration and the whole workshop had a very encouraging lovely vibe throughout which helped! I was really pleased with my screen printed bag!

It was really excellent value for money – especially as we ran over time quite a bit. Thank you for sharing your excellent skills, equipment, making sure we were all happy and being so attentive to our individual needs. The food nibbles were also delish : )

I’d definitely recommend the scream printing workshop to anyone with an interest in trying something new, playing with colour and texture, having an opportunity to ‘make your mark’, getting in touch with your creative sparkle (it definitely exists!) and having a laugh with friends. Our friend was a happy-hen indeed and thanks for making it such a special day for all of us!

Amy Aardvark’s knowledge and passion was clear from the beginning right through to the end of the Voodon’t workshop. She worked hard to transfer her skills to us students as well as preparing and providing refreshments. A truly enjoyable and creative day!
I learnt lots of embroidery stitches, how to design a doll, including stuffing and machine sewing considerations as well as ways of using the different embroidery stitches and bondaweb to affix applique material to make my design come to life. The teaching was very clear and well backed up with demonstrations and handouts. I felt I could ask as many questions as I needed and Amy came to check my progress regularly.I was completely absorbed in what I was doing from start to finish. So much so that I forgot to go to the toilet for 6 hours despite drinking lots of tea and coffee! The materials and tuition provided were great. I felt I got more than my money’s worth! I would definitely recommend this workshop, especially to couples as its interesting to see how their creativity manifests itself and you learn new things about each other.
Amy Heard, Voodon't Valentine workshop, February 2011

Never had so much fun. Drinking red wine sewing and listening to the Pixies. Top Saturday and also learning stuff also along with good company. A highly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
I have never done appliqué before but after the workshop I feel confident that I would be able to do this in my own time and now plan to have a scrap bag and lots of thread to enable me to crack on and make or just play around with the stitching, designs and materials.
I thought that the teaching was excellent. I felt that I picked it up quite easily but this is due to the fact that Amy explained and was extremely patient and unlike being at school I felt that if I wasn’t getting it that I could ask for things to be repeated.

Amy’s Appliqué course was a delight to attend. Her studio has plenty of space and equipment to make fabulous designs. Amy herself was extremely friendly, patient and knowledgeable. On the course, we were taught stitching techniques, how our ideas for designs could be translated into the real thing and some machine sewing. I would definitely attend another course; it’s a fabulous way to spend an afternoon!
